Previous Artist – Virginia Coghill – Watercolour Painter
Virginia is a local Williamstown Artist whom I actually met here at Captains Retreat. She’s part of the regular Tuesday historic walking group and she invited me to her exhibition. Here is an exert from her website:
My mother was an artist and always encouraged me to paint from the time I was at school. But somehow or other I never got around to it until much later in life. Having made a late start I quickly became slightly obsessed with painting and now paint when ever I can.
It’s a wonderful pastime which creates many enjoyable activities such as going on holidays to take photos for painting, making friends with other painters, going to classes and exhibitions.
I never expected that I would love to paint so much nor did I anticipate that I would paint the things I do – or that they would turn out the way they do. For me painting is a learning process and full of surprises. I hope you’ll enjoy my paintings. I love nature and the colours, shapes and textures of nature. I also love the architecture of Melbourne’s city lanes and its lovely buildings.
